The transformer is mainly composed of an iron core and wires. Among them, the iron core is mainly made of stacked silicon steel sheets. Silicon steel sheet is a type of steel sheet with a silicon content of 0.8-4.8%, which has strong magnetic conductivity. In transformers, silicon steel sheets can generate a higher magnetic induction intensity, and their performance can determine the size of the transformer volume. Today, we will give you a detailed introduction to silicon steel sheets.
Silicon steel sheets determine the power loss of transformers
During transformer operation, there will be a loss of transmission power. There are mainly two types of losses, one is copper loss on the resistance of the coil, and the other is iron loss in the silicon steel sheet, abbreviated as "iron loss". There are two reasons for the iron loss of silicon steel sheets, one is "hysteresis loss" and the other is "eddy current loss".
Hysteresis loss is the iron loss caused by the presence of hysteresis during the magnetization process of an iron core. The magnitude of this loss is proportional to the area enclosed by the material's hysteresis loop. The hysteresis loop of silicon steel is narrow, and using it as the core of a transformer has lower hysteresis loss, which can greatly reduce its heating degree.
